Prehistoric Park. S1-03 A Mammoth Undertaking pt 2
As previously stated, I’m splitting up A Mammoth Undertaking into two parts. The second one is set 150,000 years in Siberia. Specifically, in the shadow of the Altai Mts. The main reason is that today, this area is one of the last remnants of the Mammoth Steppe. Much like before, this is also during a specific season. In this case, late fall/early winter. This is when a lot of animals are either preparing for hibernation/brumation and/or already asleep for the long winter ahead. Other animals are going to tough it out. Third, many mammals will also be woolier. Especially the main target, the Woolly mammoth. As a result, the team will be extra prepared for the cold weather- insulating clothes, for starters. Going back to location, I’ve decided to cover not just the Mammoth Steppe in terms of habitats. There’s also two more locations I’ll be covering- the coniferous forests and also mountains. Why? Because there will be WAY more animals this time around. So much that I’ve decided to

Ok time to resume work on my take for Prehistoric Park. Now you notice how I have this listed as Part 1 of A Mammoth Undertaking. There’s a good reason for that. Since Nigel goes back to the same place twice but in different eras (Siberia 10K years ago & 150K years ago), I decided why not two areas set during the Ice Age? So where will part one take place? Beringia, 30K years ago. With that out of the way, onto the more. . . unique aspect- a cryptid. Now why a cryptid in the past? Well two reasons: DXD includes mythical monsters so it’s only natural to include unnatural monsters. The second aspect is for pure fun spec-evo. So what’s the Cryptid in question? The Partridge Creek Monster/Beast. For more info, read below. Long Ago in Partridge Creek by Olmagon on DeviantArt All caught up? Good. Now how does one house Ice Age animals at the same place with more warm-adapted dinosaurs? Simple- the Ice Age animals are living on part of the islands from Isla Variatas that resemble

By far some of the most dangerous threats to humanity aren’t the Kaiju; instead it’s the exact opposite: disease. Ranging from the Black Plague that killed a third to half of Europe’s population during the Dark ages to the now extinct smallpox, and the ever present malaria. So what happens when both are combined- kaiju being carriers for disease? Enter “Dracoequus morbidus” The Diseased Dragon Horse. Designated as Amhuluk. Located in Northwestern Oregon, this horse-like reptile is one of those oddities. . . at first. For starters, where it falls in the Animal Kingdom. Samples of DNA taken from Amhuluk are extremely hard to identify due to Amhuluk’s toxic nature. Currently, he’s placed as an Archosaur, closer to Pseudosuchians than to Ornithodirans. He’s also one of two members of the Dracoequus genus. The other is Dracoequus sinensis, otherwise known as Dodongo. Amhuluk resides in Memaloose Lake, around 50 miles from Portland, Oregon. The area around this lake is practically dead

Of all the continents, the one that is joked as being the strangest is Australia. Having split from Gondwana during the Cretaceous period, this island continent was a refuge for many animals. Some extinct, some rare elsewhere, and some that are found nowhere else on Earth. By far the animals Australia is most well known for, aside from the countless venomous snakes & spiders, are the Marsupials. These are basal compared to Placentals, having a pouch to carry their tiny babies in, short pregnancies, and low metabolisms. Poster animals are the kangaroo, koala, & wombat. All are part of the Order Diprotodontia, though among these 3, the focal subject of today is most closely related to is the wombat. If one was to travel back some 80,000 years ago, Australia had a rich megafauna biodiversity. The largest is where the Order gets their name, Diprotodon. A wombat the size of a rhino, this was the most common large herbivore on the continent. However, it wasn’t the only giant wombat. This
Of all the sea monsters that have frightened sailors is the Kraken. Described as being a cephalopod so big that it was mistaken for an island, and powerful enough to destroy ships. Said to inhabit parts of the North Atlantic, this legend has been around for centuries. . . at least so it seems. As it turns out, the Kraken is real! Titanoteuthis navismergi- “Ship sinking Titanic Squid.” This cephalopod is part of an ancient lineage- the Endocerids. These were the top predators over 400 million years ago. Kraken’s key feature identifying her as a member of this family is the large orthoconic shell, and is conically-shaped. But she also possesses features from cephalopods- strong arms like octopi but also long feeding tentacles tipped with sharp hooks like a colossal squid. Behind her eyes, is a pair of diamond-shaped fins for movement. Speaking of her eyes, Kraken is unique among cephalopods for having great color vision, comparable to the mantis shrimp. By far Kraken’s greatest

When people die, it is said that those who were good ascend beyond the clouds into Heaven. On the opposite end of the spectrum, those who committed unspeakable sins are cast to the Underworld, more commonly known as Hell. Various mythologies have different interpretations of what this horrid place is, though most depictions depict it being a wasteland - crisscrossed with rivers of lava, sulfuric air, and blackened grounds, not unlike the environment around a volcano. And this holds true for Hell exists. . . . but not on Earth. Hell is in fact. . . An alternate plane of existence, an entirely different dimension. Despite this, there is ‘life’ in this harsh wasteland. . . The undead. Many were once people that have committed sins. And these sins reflect their appearance. The worst they are, the more monstrous they become. For example, something as minor as theft, albeit with good intentions, and then dying results in the person resembling a zombie. But a worse crime such as
For many people all over the world, religion is a major part of their lives. The one most practiced is Christianity, followed by Islamic & Hinduism. However, with Kaiju being extremely prevalent for almost as long as organized religion has been around, it should be no surprise that a good number of Earth’s populace worship these massive beings. Indeed, it’s hypothesized that some of these Kaiju are the direct source of many beings in various cultures. Much like how some religious groups can be beneficial, and others are less than ideal, the same holds true when it comes to Kaiju. The Church of Mothra is a good example. While mainly practiced by the Hotua on Infant Island, it’s also common across Eastern Asia and parts of the Americas. On the opposite spectrum there is the Kult of Zero. This group worships the Ghidorahs, King Ghidorah most noteworthy. First started by Salem and her Ministry before the Fall of Atlantis, it also includes those most connected to the Ghidorahs, the

Long before megatooth sharks hunted whales around the world, and long before marine reptiles patrolled the Oceans of Kansas, there once was a fish that became Earth’s first major marine top predator: Dunkleosteus. As big as a killer whale, this armored leviathan crunched through equally armored prey; not with teeth, but sharp blades made from the same armor that covered the head & torso. With a bite force of nearly 2 tons and with jaws that could open & close in milliseconds, nothing could challenge it except its own kind. That was until it became extinct. . . or did it? As it turns out, the Bonefish aren’t the only surviving Placoderms in the Holocene. Genitor may be bigger than even the largest known Dunkleosteus, but it’s small fry compared to “Voragoichthys ferrumaxilla.” The Whirlpool fish with bone jaws. Aka Charybdis. At first glance, Charybdis does resemble a Dunkleosteus and both are in fact part of the same family, Dunkleosteidae. Charybdis does share a similar head as the
Among the various invertebrate Kaiju, at least 7 are cephalopods. While most cephalopods live short lives, the presence of so many, including some that live in large populations to sustain bigger kaiju, is impressive. By far the most derived cephalopods are two that take their name of ‘Head & Foot’ seriously, capable of walking very well on land. This includes Crustaceous rex, otherwise known as C-rex; the other is the Walking Squid with ice stilts- Ambulokalamari glacigrallae. Better known as Scylla. At first glance, Scylla has traits of cephalopods, crustaceans, & arachnids. But the coiled shell and ‘beard’ tentacles portray her ancestry as being a cephalopod, closely related to ammonites. Normally, she moves like a normal cephalopod, her tentacles tucked in and moving via jet propulsion. When walking on the seabed/substrate, she moves like a tripod fish mixed with how some octopi will walk on their tentacles. It’s only when she goes onto land is when her locomotion is. . .

Ok announcement. Tomorrow, I'll be traveling to Indiana with my parents. Why? Because Monday is the eclipse. After the eclipse, I'll be coming home. Now my laptop isn't coming with me. The only tech is my phone, earbuds, and their respective chargers. As such, my time online will be limited. Especially since most of that time will be traveling.
